Tropical Storm Irene

The name Irene has been used for six tropical cyclones in the Atlantic Ocean, one in the western Pacific Ocean, one in the southwest Indian Ocean, and two in the southwest Pacific Ocean.

Atlantic

• 2011's Hurricane Irene - A strong Category 3 hurricane that passed over the Caribbean and the Bahamas, then, as a Category 1 hurricane, made landfall in North Carolina and again in New Jersey on the East Coast of the United States, causing at least 56 deaths and $10.1 billion (2011 USD) in damage. Irene tied the record with an unnamed storm from the 1936 season for being the second earliest 9th Atlantic storm formed before October.
• 2005's Hurricane Irene - Category 2 hurricane; did not affect land and achieved earliest 9th Atlantic storm formation.
• 1999's Hurricane Irene - Category 2 hurricane. Passed over Cuba and struck Florida, causing $800 million (1999 USD) in damage.
• 1981's Hurricane Irene - Category 3 hurricane. She moved across the Atlantic both ways, eventually hitting France as an extratropical storm.
• 1971's Hurricane Irene - Struck Nicaragua as a Category 1 hurricane. After that, Irene tracked to the Eastern Pacific Ocean and became Eastern Pacific's hurricane Olivia.
• 1959's Tropical Storm Irene - Caused minor damage to the Florida Panhandle.

Western Pacific

• 1947's Tropical Storm Irene - The Japan Meteorological Agency analyzed it as a tropical depression, not as a tropical storm. She hit the Philippines.

Southwest Indian Ocean

• 1963's Cyclone Irene - Southwest Indian Ocean in 1962-1963 season.

Southwest Pacific Ocean
